How Does the GM Energy PowerBank Work?
The PowerBank is a residential energy storage system and comes in the form of a box to store energy that’s more than what is generated by solar panels or through the grid. It can work as a source of emergency power when there are blackouts and enable the homeowners to use electricity during night time or during the day when demand is high. The technology synergizes with electric vehicles, homes, and other power system infrastructure to help GM transition toward cleaner power to reduce electricity expenses. The ability of the PowerBank to store renewable energy, the home energy system becomes more sustainable and reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions
With a storage capacity of 10.6 kWh or 17.7 kWh, the PowerBank can power a house during a blackout or assist in compensating for increased electricity costs during peak hours.
Vehicle-specific compatibility will differ based on operating systems, software upgrades, hardware specs, and versions. The following GM EVs are compatible: 24MY Silverado EV RST, 24MY Silverado EV WT, 24MY Sierra EV Denali, 24MY Chevrolet Blazer EV, 24MY Chevrolet Equinox EV, 24MY Cadillac LYRIQ, 25MY Cadillac LYRIQ, 25MY Cadillac OPTIQ, and 25MY Cadillac Escalade IQ. For some eligible 24MY EVs, bidirectional charging requires a dealership or over-the-air update (select 24MY Chevrolet Blazer EV, select 24MY Cadillac LYRIQ, select 24MY Silverado EV WT).
Although your car can transfer energy to multiple users with bidirectional charging, the most popular uses are sending energy back to the grid or to your home, place of business, appliances, or another vehicle. The most popular use of bidirectional charging is vehicle to grid (V2G).
With a GM Energy PowerBank, you may capture and store energy from compatible solar panels or the grid for later use.
When combined with the GM Energy V2H Enablement Kit, the GM Energy PowerShift Charger is a ground-breaking vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional power system that enables energy to go from your house to your compatible GM EV and back again.
